CONWAY — A judge will soon decide whether to dismiss a lawsuit Weldon Boyd filed against an attorney representing Scott Spivey’s family in their wrongful death case against the North Myrtle Beach businessman. John Thomas Lay Jr., representing Allendale attorney Mark Tinsley, and Desa Ballard, representing Boyd, faced off in court on June 10 as Lay asked Circuit Court Judge Alex Hyman to dismiss Boyd’s case against his client.

Primary will decide these Horry County school board seats

CONWAY — The June 9 Republican Primary will decide multiple seats on the Horry County Board of Education, as several races have no opposition in November's general election. The school board has 12 seats, and seven of them have expiring terms this year. Four of those have contested primaries. Chairman David Cox did not seek reelection. Neither did board members Debbie Edmonds (District 2) and Neil James (District 10).

Husband of missing Horry County woman considered ‘person of interest’ amid search, police say

CONWAY — The husband of a missing Horry County woman has been named by police as a person of interest in her disappearance. Horry County Police on June 4 provided an update on the search for Cyrena Anderson, a 48-year-old who was reported missing by her sister on May 19, according to an HCPD news release. Her sister told police she last spoke to Anderson on May 12. Anderson didn’t come to work on May 14, and she was reportedly last seen with her husband, Danny Osborne, at their home in Forestbrook.
