ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Rochester Honkers lost their series-opening game to the Thunder Bay Border Cats 15-7. The Border Cats scored 12 unanswered runs in the first three innings. Rochester battled back, but the closest they got to a tie was six runs. It was Dairy Night at the Honkers game, and in the middle of the fourth inning, play was halted as one coach from each team participated in the cow-milking contest. Rochester took those bragging rights.

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (KTTC) – The 47th Annual Gopher 50 Charitable Late Model Race runs from July 2-4 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley. The three-day event will showcase top racers in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and local racers. The entire event is a charitable race that gives back to different communities. Proceeds from the event will be distributed to Ronald McDonald House, Rochester Eagles Club, Blooming Prairie Fire Department, Blooming Prairie FFA, and others.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Rochester Honkers beat the Rockford Rivets 15-9 in the series finale. The Honkers and Rivets split the two-game series. After falling behind, 2-1, in the fourth inning, the bats came alive for the Honkers. Seth Thompson and Tim Ford each hit RBI singles in the bottom half of the inning to give Rochester back the lead, 3-2. Once Rochester had the lead, they never let it exchange hands again.
