Abstract Entanglement is the fuel of advanced quantum technology, enabling, e.g., measurement-based quantum computing and loss-tolerant encoding of quantum information. In photonics, entanglement has traditionally been generated probabilistically, requiring massive multiplexing for scaling up to many photons. An alternative approach utilizing quantum emitters in nanophotonic devices can realize deterministic generation of entangled photons.

Chiral quantum optics in broken-symmetry and topological photonic crystal waveguides

Abstract On-chip chiral quantum light-matter interfaces, which support directional interactions, provide a promising platform for efficient spin-photon coupling, nonreciprocal photonic elements, and quantum logic architectures. We present full-wave three-dimensional calculations to quantify the performance of conventional and topological photonic crystal waveguides as chiral emitter-photon interfaces.
