Interactions between lexical and sublexical processes in written production: Evidence from two ERP experiments
This study examined the temporal dynamics of lexical and sublexical processing in Chinese spelling-to-dictation using two ERP experiments. Participants either wrote the initial character of two-character disyllabic words dictated to them (Experiment 1) or performed an auditory lexical decision task (Experiment 2), with character frequency (CF) and regularity manipulated.
Effect of high-dose intravenous vitamin C on organ support-free days within the first 14 days in severe acute pancreatitis patients: a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial protocol
|
Abstract Background: The global incidence of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is increasing, yet mortality rates remain persistently high. Novel therapeutic approaches are urgently needed to improve outcomes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of high-dose intravenous vitamin C in improving organ support-free days within the first 14 days and other clinical outcomes in patients with SAP. Method: This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, multicenter clinical trial.

Optimizing global genomic surveillance for early detection of emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants
Abstract The global spread of viruses highlights the need for timely and effective genomic surveillance to detect new variants and inform rapid public health responses. However, high costs and uneven sequencing capacity hinder equitable global implementation. Surveillance focused on international travelers at major travel hubs has been proposed as a way to complement robust local surveillance, but its potential benefits have not been fully quantified.

Different subtypes of nonthyroidal illness syndrome on the prognosis of septic patients: a two-centered retrospective cohort study
Background Sepsis is an infection induced life-threatening syndrome, which impacts millions of people around the world each year (1). Because of the aging populations, the reported incidence of sepsis is still increasing (2). For the better prognosis of septic patients, the treatment and management methods are still evolving. Neuroendocrine systems dysfunction could contribute to sepsis-induced organ failure (3).
[1812.00609] Bus bunching as a synchronisation phenomenon
Abstract: Bus bunching is a perennial phenomenon that not only diminishes the efficiency of a bus system, but also prevents transit authorities from keeping buses on schedule. We present a physical theory of buses serving a loop of bus stops as a ring of coupled self-oscillators, analogous to the Kuramoto model.
Institutional Scientific Review of Cancer Clinical Research Protocols: A Unique Requirement That Affects Activation Timelines
A total of 226 trials were analyzed. Of these, 77% were industry sponsored and 23% were investigator initiated. The median time from submission to PRMC approval was 55 days. The length of review was associated with trial phase, timing of approval, and number of committee changes/clarifications requested. The median process time was 35 days for those approved at first decision, 68 days for second decision, and 116 days for third decision (P < .001).
Changes of Brain Glucose Metabolism in the Pretreatment Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective PET/CT Study
The tumor-to-brain communication has been emphasized by recent converging evidences. This study aimed to compare the difference of brain glucose metabolism between patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and control subjects. NSCLC patients prior to oncotherapy and control subjects without malignancy confirmed by 6 months follow-up were collected and underwent the resting state 18F-fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) PET/CT.
