Super frantic mathcore outfit Utopia just dropped their new record, Shame, which they say takes on the issues of mental health and humanity through the lens of extreme music. Comprised of John Bailey and Jimmy Wilson on guitar, Chris Reese of Corrupt Moral Altar on vocals, Arran McSporran of Virvum and Vipassi on fretless bass, and Jay Walsh on drums.

I know we’re roughly 48 hours removed from the GRAMMYs and its continued piss poor representation of metal, but it turns out maybe we’ve all just been paying attention to the wrong overblown music award show. Our Canadian friends in the north have their own awards show and once again they’ve proven that they know what the fuck they’re doing when it comes to “metal/hard music.” Earlier today, the Juno Awards announced its nominees for the 2024 Metal/JHard Music Album Of The Year award.
