What was your first job as a journalist?

Deputy head of news at my university's radio station.

How is social media changing news?

Increased misinformation, increased transparency.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email and phone, or over coffee (I love coffee)

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Data analytics tools, Microsoft Word and a pen to scribble on lots of post-it-notes

What's your favorite social network?

None

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes. I wrote a popular anonymous gossip column called the 'Royal Mole'. Students had to decode cryptic messages to find out.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

If you love to write, you'll never get bored of the job.
