Egor Dëmin, Mikel Brown have message for tank-obsessed Nets fans Original
Nets fans sat through two tanking seasons — and suffered through almost 120 losses — to land first Egor Dëmin and then Mikel Brown Jr. as the payoff. It’s no surprise, then, that those fans have pinned their hopes on the pair of 20-year-olds as the backcourt of the future and the foundation of their franchise.
Mikel Brown Jr. has no timetable as Nets prioritize full recovery
Injured Mikel Brown Jr. can't wait to play. But he might have to. The rookie is the biggest key to Brooklyn's rebuild. That's why his rehab and return have to be right, not rushed. Brown rolled his left ankle last week and has gotten back out on the court on a limited basis in practice. But as of Thursday, he hasn't been cleared for contact. “Yeah, as of right now they're just telling me you could get back moving a little bit, really just trying to get the strengthening it up back,” Brown said.

Nets’ new starter Day’Ron Sharpe looks to pace himself while keeping his edge Original
Finally a starter for the first time, Day’Ron Sharpe is going to face more first-stringers and log more minutes than ever. The Nets center knows he’s going to have to pace himself. But pacing doesn’t mean passive. Sharpe only knows one way to play: all out. “I feel like I played against starters last year as well,” Sharpe said. “Sometimes, when I would come in the game, they would put the more physical guy in the game to deal with me. So just do my thing, just keep playing hard.
Julius Randle lays out his Nets mission after seeing Knicks finish what he helped start
Julius Randle spent a half-decade lifting the Knicks from cellar-dwellers to contenders, only to get traded away before they finally earned a championship. Now he's back in the city, across town in Brooklyn, happy to have seen his old teammates become winners while trying to help his new ones on the Nets do the same. “I'm happy [for the Knicks], man,” said Randle, one of the first Nets to utter that phrase. “I kept in touch with guys. I've had a lot of great moments here in the city.
Michael Porter Jr. knows exactly what he needs to show Nets as contract talks continue
When asked what Michael Porter Jr. had to show amid salary negotiations, Nets GM Sean Marks was transparent in saying consistency and intangibles. Porter was just as honest in his self-evaluation, admitting he has more to prove to get the kind of contract he wants from Brooklyn. “Yeah, of course. There's always more to show,” Porter said. “The main thing is winning. Who cares about putting up 20-plus points a game if you're not winning? So I think I've got a lot more I want to show and prove.

Moritz Wagner looking to be disrupting defensive force for Nets
When the Nets added Moritz Wagner, they didn't get a needed shot-blocker. But they did get a veteran backup to Day'Ron Sharpe. And a different look from any center they've had in years. And maybe, just maybe, an ace recruiter for their next star. Wagner — signed away from the Magic , and younger brother Franz — isn't going to replace the departed Nic Claxton's rim protection. He can't.

Nolan Traore bulked up for second Nets season with eye on fixing glaring weakness Original
Nolan Traore spent last season as a waifish rookie, one too slight and skinny to finish at the rim. The young point guard returned to the Nets bigger and brawnier. It remains to be seen if he’s better. “He’s a year older, and maturity is important — presence, confidence, all that. And you can see him with his sleeveless, and how much [bigger he is],” Nets coach Jordi Fernández said. “It’s great. He’s put the work in. You watch him move around and play.
What will determine when Nets get aggressive with trade assets
Whatever incremental improvements the Nets have made, they've been made without touching the league's biggest cache of assets. What will determine when GM Sean Marks finally cashes some of them in? How quickly their young players develop, and what star becomes available. Brooklyn Nets' Egor Demin speaks to members of the media during Media Day at HSS Training Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Monday, Sept. 28, 2026.

Where Nets’ ongoing Michael Porter Jr. extension talks stand entering training camp
Extension talks between the Nets and Michael Porter Jr. are ongoing. But they don't sound urgent or anywhere close to bearing fruit. Porter was Brooklyn's leading scorer last season amid a career year. But he's set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and despite being extension-eligible since July 6, neither side seems to be in a hurry to hammer out a deal. "Yeah, I'll leave the negotiations internal," Nets GM Sean Marks said. "That's obviously between the Nets and Mike and his agent.

Nets carrying ‘delusional confidence’ they can defy odds with lofty win goal Original
Oddmakers project the Nets will win fewer than 25 games. The delusionally confident Nets think they can win twice that many. They’ve set it as a goal, talking about it privately and now publicly. “That’s the goal from Day 1. We said our goal is to get 50 wins,” Terance Mann said Monday when asked by The Post about trying to lead a young, inexperienced group that, heretofore, has no idea how to win. “So you’re going to have to go in there with the mentality that we’re going to get 50 wins.

What I’m questioning as Nets training camp sets up different kind of season Original
Veteran forward Julius Randle joins a Nets team coming off a 20-62 season. The Nets will host their annual media day on Monday and tip off training camp after that. They’ll be preparing for a season that’s finally going to be focused more on wins than on lottery positioning. But it’s also a season that will be about development and deals, evaluation and appraisal. And even if the rebuilding Nets struggle, there will be plenty of storylines to follow. Here are the biggest ones, on the eve of camp:

Breaking down Nets roster: Where every player stands before season Original
The Post’s Brian Lewis breaks down the Nets roster ahead of training camp: Player, age, position, height, weight After the Nets traded a second-round pick in 2018, it got moved in three different deals before coming back to Brooklyn in the form of this sweet-shooting forward from UCLA. The two-way’s defense has to prove up to NBA levels. The No. 6 pick from Louisville is the Nets’ highest since 2010 and foundation of their rebuild.

The Post’s Brian Lewis breaks down the Nets’ top storylines heading into training camp. Brooklyn’s starting five is set before camp even starts, while Mo Wagner, Keon Ellis and a backup point guard all have to play. But the forward fight between Noah Clowney, Josh Minott, Danny Wolf and Joshua Jefferson will be interesting. Veteran Michael Porter Jr. is on an expiring $40.8 million deal and has been extension-eligible.

Jordi Fernandez finally gets chance to truly coach Nets as rebuild enters new phase
Jordi Fernández is going into his third training camp in Brooklyn, and for the first time, he finally will get to coach. That's not to imply he has been sitting around doing nothing through his first two seasons with the Nets. But with them overtly tanking, it's been far more teaching than coaching. That should change, starting with this training camp.

Nets ink Summer League duo to fill out training camp roster Original
The Nets signed forwards Dain Dainja and Ben Humrichous, rounding out their 21-man training camp roster. Dainja and Humrichous played for the Nets at Summer League. Ben Humrichous #12 of the Brooklyn Nets 3-point basket against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Both are likely on Exhibit 10 deals and headed to G-League Long Island after camp, where they would be eligible for bonuses up to $91,000 after 60 days.

The Nets with the most on the line this season — and the potential fallout Original
In a week, the Nets will welcome an overflowing roster of players to training camp. Some of them have more to prove than others. The Nets’ best players — veterans Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle — have one championship ring, three All-Stars berths and about $350 million in career earnings between them. They’re both essentially guaranteed of being on huge contracts next season — but just how huge? And where? On the flip side, there will be players coming into camp trying to carve out careers.

What Julius Randle can mean to the Nets’ next stage — and why that may not be for long Original
Michael Porter Jr. has dominated much of the Nets’ offseason attention, for not just his scoring punch but his contract status and the possibility he becomes a trade asset. But Julius Randle is the best player on Brooklyn’s roster, the only All-Star in their locker room. And as a soon-to-be 32-year-old on a young, rebuilding team — and a player that can choose to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason — it’s fair to wonder just how long he’ll be on the roster or in that locker room.

Trust the process: Ben Shelton will be back after US Open loss — even as drought continues Original
The American men’s Grand Slam drought is 92 straight, 24 years and counting. Ben Shelton’s run to the U.S. Open final showed he might be the best suited to end that malaise. His one-sided 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-2 loss to Alexander Zverev showed how far he is from cracking into tennis’ new Big Three, from having a viable Plan B against the sport’s Big Three when he doesn’t have his A game. “I’m motivated. Disappointed with how [Sunday] went.
Elena Rybakina dethrones Aryna Sabalenka to win US Open title
First, Elena Rybakina took Aryna Sabalenka's ranking. Now, she took her crown. Rybakina's quarterfinal win had already ensured she would supplant Sabalenka as the World No. 1 when the rankings are released on Monday. But it was her 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 victory in Saturday's final that snatched away Sabalenka's crown. Sabalenka had held the top ranking for 99 straight weeks, since October 2024. She'd held the U.S. Open title for even longer, going for a three-peat in Flushing Meadows.
Why Ben Shelton may be equipped to end American men’s 23-year US Open drought Original
Ben Shelton is going against a whole lot of history in Sunday’s U.S. Open final: a 23-year Grand Slam drought by American men; an even longer 51-year dry spell by black American men; his own winless record against Flushing finals foe Alexander Zverev. All the negative numbers add up. And the sum total is ugly. Shelton, though, is undaunted. “For me, this whole tournament now at this point has been uncharted territory,” Shelton said. “I’m in positions I’ve never been in before.
