Reform MP Suella Braverman has been criticised once more after doubling down on her comments on what it means to be English during an appearance on BBC Question Times, after she was accused of fanning the flames of racism. The former Tory MP has been accused of suggesting that non-white people cannot be English after she claimed last month that she was not English despite being born in the country and having lived in it her whole life.
Majority of the British public backs rejoining the EU, YouGov finds
A majority of British voters are in support of Britain rejoining the European Union, according to data gathered by YouGov. YouGov’s tracker of public opinion on Britain’s relationship with the EU found that 59% of voters backed rejoining the bloc as of last week, while 32% of Brits oppose it. This comes as Andy Burnham told the BBC yesterday that he would consider Labour taking Britain back into the EU at the next election.
Labour projected to hold on to Holborn and St Pancras, poll predicts
The Labour Party is predicted to hold on to Holborn and St Pancras after a by-election was triggered by the resignation of Keir Starmer. The poll, carried out by Stats for Lefties, predicts that Labour will achieve 39% of the vote, while the Greens will get 32%. The Tories meanwhile are predicted to gain 10%, while Reform are on 9%. According to the poll, despite a swing to the Greens, Labour are predicted to hold onto the seat.
