SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. – If your home sustained damage to electrical equipment during Saturday's bow echo thunderstorm, MLGW says you may have to take some extra steps before you can get your power back on. According to MLGW, at the height of the outages, 140,000 customers were without power. As of 10 p.m on Sunday roughly 58,000 customers are still without power. For those homes with damage to meters, lines or other electrical equipment, there is a three-step process.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Saturday night’s bow echo storm, with confirmed straight-line winds up to 80 mph, was the seventh-most damaging storm in MLGW history, the utility’s president and CEO said Sunday. “It harkens back to Hurricane Elvis,” said MLGW President and CEO Doug McGowen said, referencing the 2003 straight-line wind storm that caused extensive tree, building and utility damage across the area.
