Two novel copper(II) complexes formulated as [Cu(bzac)(phen)Br](1) and [Cu(bzac)(bipy)Br] (2) were synthesized from the reaction between copper bromide, benzoylacetone, and diimines (1,10-phenanthroline & 2,2′-bipyridine). The complexes were elucidated by elemental analysis as well as spectroscopic techniques. The crystal structure of complex 2 was determined through single-crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing that it adopts a square pyramidal geometry.

This study investigated the optimisation of extraction methods and antioxidant properties of Dunaliella salina and Spirulina platensis to explore their potential as sources of natural compounds for cosmetic use.
