Gov. DeSantis appoints new GRU Authority member, general manager confirms
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The newest member of the Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) Authority Board has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. GRU General Manager Ed Bielarski confirmed Jack Jacobs was selected to join the board. His appointment fills the seat left open when Bielarski became general manager. A state law created the authority board in 2023 to manage the utility that serves residents in Gainesville and Alachua County.

If a picture is worth a thousand words...then I'd probably be out of a job. That's because I write--and read--words as co-anchor of WCJB's 5:00, 6, and 11 pm newscasts. Lisa joined the TV20 team as the morning/noon anchor in May of 2020.
Mount Vernon's Summer Brand has passion for volleyball
By Paige Beck, Mount Vernon senior MOUNT VERNON — Summer Brand’s love for volleyball started at a young age. A senior setter for the Mustangs, Brand has been involved in the game since third grade. Her mother, Robin Brand, is the junior varsity volleyball coach and the one who encouraged Summer to go out for the sport. “If you have been out for volleyball as long as I have, you have to enjoy it,” Summer said.

A junior at Mount Vernon, Connolly and her mother made the trip to Kansas City last month for the 2018 National Horse Show Competition. She placed third in the national competition. When Connolly and her mother arrived at Hale Arena, where the competition was located, Connolly’s trainer was waiting for her with her horse, Zoe.
