1 Introduction Anemia (hemoglobin [Hb] < 10 g/dL) is a clinical hallmark of myelofibrosis associated with negative impacts on patient quality of life and overall survival (OS) [1, 2]. The prognostic significance of anemia is recognized by its inclusion in all major myelofibrosis risk assessment tools, including the International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS), Dynamic IPSS (DIPSS), and DIPSS-Plus [3-5].

ABSTRACT Most myelofibrosis (MF) patients treated with ruxolitinib fail to achieve optimal response (i.e., spleen volume reduction  ≥35% [SVR35] and improvement in total symptom score ≥50% [TSS50], and instead experience suboptimal reductions in spleen volume and constitutional symptoms. Maximizing SVR and TSS is critical for MF patients, as both are associated with improved quality of life (QoL) and overall survival (OS).
