As a centuries-old adage declares, a person’s home is their castle — and some homes in New Jersey today even look the part, graced with turrets to embellish their curb appeal. Cambridge University’s online dictionary defines a turret as “a small, circular tower that is part of a castle or a large building.” It primarily was designed to function as a defense fortification against enemy attacks. In residential architecture, the units are mostly aesthetic.
