Effect of multidisciplinary collaboration on optimization of secondary prevention medications in a post-percutaneous coronary intervention clinic: a retrospective, historical control study
Background The use of secondary prevention medications after acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is commonly suboptimal despite strong evidence and recommendations for their benefits. This study aimed to compare the usage rates of secondary prevention medications between the post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) clinic, a coordinated, multidisciplinary service for patients who underwent cardiac stenting after ACS, and the historical control group.

Development and preliminary evaluation of a novel arm simulator and synthetic blood for venipuncture training among health science students
Background Venipuncture is an essential skill for health science students, but many struggle to learn because they lack realistic equipment for practice. The objective of this study was to develop an arm simulator and synthetic blood with physical features similar to human anatomy to enhance student learning. Methods The arm simulator uses natural latex to create flexible and durable skin over medical rubber tubes that simulate the median cubital, cephalic, and basilic veins.

A randomized controlled trial of a plastic-sheath technique to facilitate self-gripping mesh placement in laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair
In Phase I of the study, we developed innovative prototypes to simplify the placement of self-gripping mesh and address the challenges posed by its adhesive properties when unfolded in the operative field. This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University (COA#MURA2020/184).
Factors associated with preventive behaviors for microvascular complications and self-reported neuropathy symptoms among community-dwelling individuals with type 2 diabetes in Thailand
Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a significant public health issue globally, with a high burden of microvascular complications, including diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. Preventive behaviors play a critical role in reducing the risk and progression of these complications; however, the factors influencing such behaviors remain insufficiently understood.
The profiles of vaginal microbiota in fertile and infertile Thai women
Background Vaginal microbiota dysbiosis has been associated with female reproductive health and infertility. This study aimed to compare vaginal microbiota profiles according to fertility and ovarian induction status among Thai women. Methods In this cross-sectional study, vaginal samples were collected from Thai reproductive-aged women during their periovulatory period.
A comparative study of targeted end-tidal carbon dioxide versus standard management to guide resuscitation in emergency department cardiac arrest in Thailand: study protocol for a three-arm randomised controlled trial
Background Cardiac arrest managed in the emergency department (ED) is associated with suboptimal survival outcomes. End-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) monitoring during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) reflects cardiac output, tissue perfusion, and pulmonary blood flow. Observational evidence suggests that higher EtCO2 levels during CPR are associated with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), but the effect of actively targeting higher EtCO2 thresholds remains uncertain.

Physical activity and biological age measured by DNA methylation clocks: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Introduction Physical activity is an established geroprotector, which reduces the risk of mortality and age-related diseases.1 Physical activity exerts geroprotective effects by enhancing mitochondrial function, reducing oxidative stress, improving vascular perfusion, and attenuating chronic inflammation, mechanisms that preserve cellular homoeostasis and delay senescence.2 These physiological changes alter DNA methylation (DNAm) patterns underlying epigenetic ageing signatures, allowing DNAm...

Entomopathogenic fungal metabolites and their biotechnological applications for sucking insect pests
Fungal secondary metabolites and virulence factors are central to the ecological success of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) and represent untapped resources for sustainable pest management, especially against sucking insect pests. EPF initiates infection by penetrating the insect cuticle, then deploys a repertoire of toxic metabolites into the hemocoel to suppress host defenses and accelerate mortality.

Identification of serum peptide biomarkers for cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis and staging via MALDI-TOF MS and LC-MS/MS - British Journal of Cancer
Abstract Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly aggressive malignancy frequently diagnosed at advanced stages due to the lack of effective biomarkers for early-stage detection. This study aimed to identify serum peptide biomarkers capable of distinguishing healthy individuals, benign bile duct disease, different stages of CCA, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We analyzed 306 serum samples, comprising 50 healthy controls, 53 benign bile duct disease, 138 CCA, and 65 HCC patients.
