A wildfire north of Chasm Creek is now being held by the BC Wildfire Service. Since Saturday, May 9, the BCWS has been fighting a fire five kilometres east of Chasm Road, which has been visible from Highway 97. As of Tuesday, May 12, the wildfire is now listed as being held at 37.5 hectares. The BCWS believe the wildfire was caused by a lightning strike. As of an update issued on Monday, May 11, BCWS assigned helicopters and 38 BCWS firefighting personnel to contain the fire.
