A new sauropodomorph dinosaur from the Pebbly Arkose Formation (Upper Triassic: Norian) of Kariba, Zimbabwe

Abstract The Upper Triassic Pebbly Arkose Formation of the Mid-Zambezi Basin, Zimbabwe is yielding important evidence of a diverse terrestrial/freshwater biome. A partial, associated skeleton collected from the ‘Musango Archosaur Site’, on the southern margin of Lake Kariba, represents a new taxon of sauropodomorph, Musango matusadonaensis. The specimen consists of vertebrae, pectoral and pelvic girdle elements, and partial fore- and hind limbs.

Symbolic Violence and ‘Branding’ in the Puritan Reformation of London, 1634-1660

Abstract In early modern London, violence against religious dissenters took various forms: the pillory, flogging, branding, ear cropping, and executions. These punishments served as a warning not only to the victim but also to the crowds that often gathered in various spaces in London to witness them. Growing opposition to this violence, often ordered by the monarchy, was one of the factors that led to the outbreak of the Civil War in 1642.

Bone histology of Liaoningosaurus paradoxus (Ornithischia: Ankylosauria) from the Lower Cretaceous of Liaoning Province, China

ABSTRACT The ankylosaurian dinosaur Liaoningosaurus paradoxus, from the Lower Cretaceous of Liaoning Province, China, is represented by numerous specimens identified as juvenile individuals based on their body size but without bone histological evidence. Here, we present the first osteohistological study of this species based on two referred specimens, ELDM V1121 and IVPP V 20798, the latter being the largest known L. paradoxus specimen.
