Many of his novels became films, some of them classics. While Westerns where what he was known for, L’Amour wrote many short stories, including crime and fantasy, and left behind this surprising manuscript – a spy novel. Now, his son Beau, a senior executive and editor in the film industry, has completed the book.

For most of my life, I’ve lived quite close to Arsenal’s home ground. And although, in an act of childhood folly, I chose to support QPR, the Gunners are my local team. So I was genuinely delighted to see them win their first Premier League title in 24 years. I caught the tail end of yesterday’s glorious celebrations which were only marred by two things: Arsenal’s narrow defeat by PSG in the Champions League final and Emily Thornberry.
