Before skin substitutes: Reinvesting CMS’ ‘recovered time’ into advancing wound prevention
When the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced its 2026 proposals to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens and simplify regulatory requirements, long-term care executives welcomed the shift. Since the January 2026 CMS wound care policy changes, skilled nursing facilities have intensified their focus on earlier recognition and prevention of avoidable wounds. These regulatory updates have heightened pressure on facility operators to mitigate skin breakdown before tissue failure occurs.

Preventing diabetic wounds and infections in LTC starts at the bedside — before advanced wound care
In long-term care, some of the most serious and costly complications begin with findings that appear minor — a small blister, dry skin, a callus, thick toenails or a subtle change in color in frail older residents with diabetes. Approximately one in three U.S. nursing home residents lives with diabetes, making diabetic limb preservation a clinical and financial challenge in long-term care.

A Nostalgic Elegy to the Lost Time: Ahmed Mater at UCCA Edge
In his current exhibition, Antenna at UCCA Edge in Shanghai, Ahmed Mater offers an exploration of memory, displacement and transformation, inviting viewers to tune into the layered signals of a rapidly shifting region. It begins with a frequency, or perhaps a faint memory. Antenna, Ahmed Mater’s first solo exhibition in China — and the first ever by a Saudi artist at UCCA Edge – functions less as a retrospective and more as a transmission.

Geng Dayou’s Playful, Nihilistic Sculpture
We are living in a world, Geng suggests in a new show at Shanghart in Shanghai, of eternal melancholia There is something nihilistic about Geng Dayou’s five sculptural assemblages, each spotlit in an otherwise dimly lit room. There’s also something playful, empty, humorous and melancholic about them.

Podcast Review: Are We There Yet?
In popular science, few things are as romanticized as space exploration. It is the classic science fiction plot: the fearless captain and his loyal crew, journeying where no man has gone before. Yet to the average American, space exploration appears to be beyond our grasp, a distant, fanciful possibility in the drudgery of day-to-day life. A new podcast is hoping to change that perception.
