Have you ever used a typewriter?
In my high school typing class. By the time I got to college, I was typing up a storm on my Brother word processor.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram. I'm a visual person, so I was immediately drawn to it's photos and have been wowed with how the platform has grown.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Wrote about Broadway. Go figure.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't wait to create. There are so many platforms at your disposal--use them to your advantage!
What's the best pitch you ever got?
Broadway star Raul Esparza asking if I wanted to help him make a concert for Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday during the COVID-19 lockdown.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Every time a publicist gets my outlet wrong in their pitch email.
What's your favorite drink?
Black coffee.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it's fun to sit through EVERY theater production that offers free tickets.
