Fabio Wardley-Daniel Dubois is a shootout. It’s an exciting fight. The heavyweight division has been pretty good during the past few years, and when this match-up was made it had “shootout” written all over it. I can’t see how it doesn’t entertain. It could even be argued, particularly off the back of Dubois beating Joshua in five rounds in 2024, that this is a better fighter than the one increasingly expected between Tyson Fury and Joshua later in 2026.

It’s also a fight worthy of the occasion of Cinco de Mayo – the Hispanic and Mexican fight fans will gravitate to it and help uphold the traditions of Cinco de Mayo that were often lost while Floyd Mayweather was at his peak. Both are championship-level fighters with entertaining styles and exceptional records.

Tyson Fury produced a re-entry performance in victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov. There was little reason to expect a championship-calibre performance from him. He’s not the same Fury; he’s older, and was fighting off the back of a 16-month lay-off. But he got 12 rounds in against a decent opponent. Some ring-rust had to be shaken off. The criticism he’s since received isn’t merited. Fury isn’t necessarily a huge puncher.
