Pavithra Rajesh’s Biography

Hello! I’m Pavi. I’m currently an environmental policy reporter at Inside Washington Publishers.

What brings me to journalism has a lot to do with how I was raised. I was born in Chennai, India, and I have since lived in seven cities all over the world, namely Manila, Bangkok, Caracas, Mumbai, Bangalore, Boston and now, Washington, D.C. My early and privileged exposure to diverse environments always enriched my career interests – and sparked the realization of storytelling as a powerful tool.

Consequently, I wanted to emerge from my education with a broad range of experiences. Through my university’s competitive PlusOne program, I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years. My undergraduate education gave me my journalistic foundation while my graduate program armed me with research and investigative skills to tackle more complex, data-heavy stories. I also gained a proficiency in video, audio, design and data storytelling.
