Menneskets bedste ven, hunden, kan, som de fleste hundejere ved, bære rundt på en længere række af snyltere, og de kan opholde sig i mange af hundens organer. Der kan være tale om både rundorme, ikter og bændelorm i for eksempel tarm og hjerte, og hertil kommer de velkendte mider, lus og lopper, der også snylter på og i huden. Vi kender også til ikke så få arter af encellede snyltere, der kan genere vor firbenede ven, for ikke at nævne dens tarmfunktion.
