Flex Taxis Ltd has launched a public campaign calling for motorists to be given five days to pay drop-off charges at London’s major airports before they face a Parking Charge Notice of up to £100. The licensed private-hire operator is seeking changes at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports, where motorists generally have until midnight on the day after their visit to pay the applicable charge.

Tewkesbury Borough Council’s Licensing Committee has recommended approval of a new penalty points scheme covering hackney carriage and private hire drivers, vehicles and operators. The proposal will now go before the council’s Executive Committee on 2 September. If approved, the revised licensing policy is expected to take effect from 28 September. The recommendation follows an eight-week public consultation held earlier this year.

The High Court has granted permission for a judicial review challenging Transport for London’s handling of private hire driver licence renewals, following claims that delays left thousands of drivers legally unable to work. According to law firm DPG representing the claimant, Mr Justice Sweeting granted permission on two grounds in a judgment handed down on 25 June 2026.
