Elliot Anderson still wouldn’t get into this Newcastle United team - Simple reality
Elliot Anderson was one of the top headline makers of the summer 2024 Newcastle United transfer window. The club getting into a PSR mess and June 2024 needing to see more than £50m extra revenue needing to be brought in that month before the financial year end. Players who have come through the ranks and not having had a transfer fee spent on them, are sadly those that give the biggest instant PSR boost. Elliot Anderson was sold to Nottingham Forest for a reported £35m.
Predicted Newcastle team v Wolves - Five changes
Looking at this Newcastle team v Wolves. Only five days away now, from proper football returning after this tedious first international break. Newcastle United having started the season with very good performances against Villa and Liverpool that deserved more than the solitary point gained out of six. Then for the away match at Leeds just before the internationals, Eddie Howe heavily impacted by players unavailable, or not signed by that point.
Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman upset a few people with messages for Alexander Isak
In July 2022 a 22 year old Sven Botman signed for Newcastle United, a month later and also aged 22 we saw Alexander Isak follow him into the club, then January 2023 a 21 year old Anthony Gordon joined the pair. Three young players coming into a new club in quick succession. Move forward a few years and this trio of Newcastle United players have been part of a pretty amazing three seasons for NUFC. Two Champions League qualifications, reaching two Wembley finals, winning a trophy.
Journalist serves up new Alexander Isak reality check that Liverpool fans don’t want to hear
A very excellent summing up of where we are at now, with the saga of Newcastle United, Alexander Isak and Liverpool. The summer 2025 transfer window opened 84 days ago. Newcastle United are still yet to receive a credible bid for Alexander Isak. Only a laughably derisory one made by Liverpool some weeks ago of £110m. Alexander Isak still hasn’t put in a written transfer request to try and help make a move happen.
Journalist now serves up Alexander Isak reality check that Liverpool fans don’t want to hear
An excellent summing up of where we are at now, with the saga of Newcastle United, Alexander Isak and Liverpool (and any other clubs that might be wanting to buy the Sweden international. The summer 2025 transfer window opened 79 days ago. Newcastle United are yet to receive a credible bid for Alexander Isak, only a derisory one made by Liverpool some weeks ago of £110m. Alexander Isak hasn’t put in a written transfer request to try and help make a move happen.
Alexander Isak looking less likely to leave Newcastle United with each passing day
Alexander Isak is still a Newcastle United player. My belief is that he will remain so on Monday. In fact, Alexander Isak looking less likely to leave Newcastle United with each passing day. For starters, which clubs could he potentially move to? Manchester City already have their striker situation in place. Chelsea invested heavily in strikers in recent weeks. Liverpool and Arsenal have invested heavily in strikers in recent days.
What this really told us about Newcastle United ahead of the new season
Newcastle United started their pre-season friendly schedule on Saturday. A lot has been said since that match in Glasgow but what did it really tell us? Losing 4-0 is never a good thing but it was just a friendly and there were mitigating factors. The overall play from Newcastle United was still kind of ok generally, it was more a case of lack of penetration and quality/inspiration when getting to the Celtic penalty area, then mistakes and poor marking when the opposition got near the NUFC box.
You might not like Newcastle United transfer policy but can’t argue against the reasoning
The Newcastle United transfer policy is under scrutiny. Into July and no first team signings yet. Journalists and Newcastle United fans alike, questioning what is happening? So is the Newcastle United transfer policy fit for purpose? I suppose the first thing to say, is exactly what do we mean by the Newcastle United transfer policy.
My top twenty Newcastle United memories at St James’ Park
Memories of Newcastle United moments at St James’ Park. The most memorable. What got me started on this was an article on The Mag on Sunday morning. That article reporting ex-NUFC defender John Anderson picking his five most memorable moments at St James’ Park. BBC Radio Newcastle had restricted him to just the five, which seemed a ridiculously low number to me. All those years, picking out five is impossible.
The thing that no Newcastle United fans are prepared to say ahead of this next challenge
Newcastle United fans facing the final stretch of the season. The season ends on Sunday 25 May 2025. Which means Newcastle United fans have 30 days and five more matches that will decide our fate. Ahead of the next challenge, there is one thing that no Newcastle United fans are prepared to say. United face Ipswich at St James’ Park tomorrow. Yet I haven’t heard any NUFC supporter say what is really on our minds. That is football fans for you, terrified of jinxing things. Let me explain.
Peter James Emergence Sublime
At the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, I was speaking with John Peter Laurendi, founder of Peter James Leather Co., at his company’s booth. I don’t remember whether Luciano Meirelles of Luciano Cigars gave him samples during our chat or if he had received the samples just before we started talking, but I remember him mentioning being impressed with the cigars he had smoked from Meirelles.
Brighton fans buy tiny proportion of FA Cup allocation - Great news for Newcastle United fans
Work brought me to the south coast, which is why I live amongst Brighton fans. As well as of course, Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea fans… Some of my best mates now are Brighton fans. Just like me and you, they live and breathe football. As well as enjoying a ‘few’ drinks. Anyway, when the last 16 of the FA Cup was drawn, they were over the proverbial moon. An excuse for a weekend in our brilliant city.

However, his perception of Malaysia was based on his observations of the rapid progress of Peninsular Malaysia as well as major urban areas in Sarawak as well as Sabah.

Frederick Forsyth was the world's first rock star writer
I was not long out of school and working on my third unpublished novel when The Day Of The Jackal came out in 1971. It was serialised in the Daily Express and I remember reading the first chapter and realising the thriller genre had changed forever. I bought the hardback, something I could rarely afford to do in those days because of the cost, and read it through to the end in several breathless sessions. Even the cover, pitch black, the title picked out in a red gunsight, was captivating.
