Lead Blizzard's World of Warcraft: Forever is a Classic+ iteration that returns players to an updated vanilla Azeroth with new zones, dungeons, raids, and other content. Announced at BlizzCon 2026, the game launches November 4. In comments following the announcement, Principal Designer Kris Zierhut and Lead Encounter Designer Mike Nuthals explained why they believe Forever makes a separate World of Warcraft sequel unnecessary.

Standing Stone Games has begun testing Update 49.6 for The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO), giving Bullroarer testers their first hands-on look at the Neighbours system tied to the upcoming Wolves of Mordor expansion. The studio opened the beta this week on the official test server, according to the LOTRO forums. The feature isn't fully functional yet, but testers can already summon a neighbour to talk with, give and receive gifts, and work through a rotating panel of daily quests.
