On paper, New Hampshire Motor Speedway maybe isn’t the best match for the Next Gen car. It’s the flattest oval on the circuit outside of Bowman Gray Stadium (a maximum of 7° of banking in the turns) and races like a short track. Then again, there was decent action to be had on Sunday (Aug. 23) for the NASCAR Cup Series race. The weather forecast was not swell for Sunday, leading NASCAR to move the start of the race by an hour. This resulted in the cancellation of USA Sports Pre-Race for the weekend.

The future is somewhat unclear in IMSA for Pfaff Motorsports these days. However, the on-track form is much clearer. Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell controlled much of the race Sunday (Aug. 23) and held on to win the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR. It is the duo’s second straight victory. The win also puts Caldarelli and Mitchell squarely in championship contention, just 56 points back in third with two races to go.

Stephen Cameron Racing’s Greg Liefooghe used a crossover move to take the lead away from KohR Motorsports’ Mike Skeen with two laps to go. From there, he held on to win the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Virginia Is For Racing Lovers Grand Prix with Sean Quinlan. It is the duo’s first overall victory. Skeen and Evan Slater finished second in their Mustang, followed by Turner Motorsport’s Luca Mars and Dillon Machavern.
