We launched the New Day project in 2020, when everything was shut down and many social organizations were struggling. We had worked with Red Door previously, a Toronto-based shelter that provides emergency support for women, children and refugees facing precarious situations.

We wanted to do something that was hopeful. We launched the New Day project in 2020, when everything was shut down and many social organizations were struggling. We had worked with Red Door previously, a Toronto-based shelter that provides emergency support for women, children and refugees facing precarious situations. We wanted to support them as they’re a lean charity—there’s very little administrative cost compared to other charities. The money goes directly into the community.
