Thermal load responses of a large assembly workshop to envelope and ventilation design in a severe cold region
Abstract This study investigates thermal load responses to envelope and ventilation parameters in a large assembly workshop in Shenyang, China, using controlled DeST simulations. Reducing the wall U value from 1.0 to 0.1 W/(m2K) decreased annual heating load by 10.6%, compared with 1.85% for the same roof change, identifying wall insulation as the more influential measure.

BCAT1 inhibits crotonate-related epigenetic modulation of metabolic genes in tumor-associated macrophages to counter immunosuppression
Abstract The heterogeneous and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) contributes to poor immunotherapy responses. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) are central to the immunosuppressive TME, but how metabolic programs regulate TAM pro-tumorigenic functions remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify branched-chain amino acid transaminase 1 (BCAT1) as a metabolic checkpoint in TAMs constraining tumor progression.

Targeting p300 and CBP abolishes HOXB13-loss-induced lipogenesis and tumor metastasis
Abstract HOXB13 is a prostate-specific transcription factor best known for its role as an androgen receptor (AR) cofactor. Recent evidence suggests that HOXB13 plays critical AR-independent functions in repressing lipogenic programs and promoting prostate cancer (PCa) metastasis. However, the mechanisms linking HOXB13 loss to tumor metastasis remain unclear.

High-resolution and large-strain distributed dynamic sensor based on Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering
Abstract A wide-dynamic-range and high-resolution optical fiber sensor based on Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering is proposed, which merges frequency-scanning phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry (Φ-OTDR) and Brillouin optical time domain analysis (BOTDA) via an adaptive signal corrector (ASC).
High-sensitivity dynamic distributed pressure sensing with frequency-scanning φ-OTDR
Abstract We propose a high-sensitivity dynamic distributed pressure sensor using frequency-scanning phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry (φ-OTDR) in a single-mode fiber (SMF), where an injection locking laser working as both filter and amplifier is used to generate the multi-frequency signals under a double-sideband modulation.
Fast Brillouin optical time-domain analysis using frequency-agile and compressed sensing
Abstract A fast Brillouin optical time-domain analysis (BOTDA) sensor has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated based on the frequency-agile and compressed-sensing technique. The proposed scheme employs a data-adaptive sparse base obtained by the principle component analysis algorithm, enabling the sparse representation of Brillouin spectrum. Then, it can be reconstructed successfully with random frequency sampling and orthogonal matching-pursuit algorithms.
We've detected new gravitational waves, we just don't know where they come from (yet)
The hunt for gravitational waves is back on with the announcement overnight of the detection of signals from what’s thought to be the merger of two neutron stars, the incredibly dense remains of a collapsed star. The signals were actually picked up on Thursday April 25 – ANZAC Day here in Australia – from a binary merger named S190425z), only the second ever neutron star merger to be observed.
