1 Introduction Morality is a fundamental aspect of our humanity, contributing to large-scale cooperation. The extent to which a person considers a given topic (e.g., gender equality, drug addiction, climate change, abortion, medically assisted suicide, or commercial meat production) to fall within the moral domain has wide-ranging consequences. This is particularly the case when moral beliefs are held with strong conviction and perceived as objectively true and universally applicable.
