Letter to the Editor: Women Deserve Winnable Seats, Not Token Politics
As election season heats up, both the Free National Movement (FNM) and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) will once again be speaking about their interest in increasing the number of women in Parliament. We have heard it leading up to the last General Election, and we have heard it again in 2025. But so far, we have not seen a real strategy — nor a clear commitment — to make this happen.
Virginia’s Construction Payment Rules Explained | JD Supra
General contractors who contract with owner/developers and who construct large, complex projects such as office buildings, shopping centers, and warehouses, often seek to shift the risk of owner/developer non-payment to their lower-tier subcontractors, such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing subcontractors.

We read with interest the article in the Index Journal on 7/6/25 regarding America’s founders and conservative values. It implied that all positive values are conservative in nature and that all negative values are liberal in nature.

Quantifying Hydraulic Geometry and Whitewater Coverage for Steep Proglacial Streams to Support Process‐Based Stream Temperature Modelling
1 Introduction Stream temperature is broadly considered the ‘master variable’ in aquatic ecosystems, and is particularly important in relation to thermal habitat suitability for a range of aquatic species (Barbarossa et al. 2021; Eaton and Scheller 1996; Parkinson et al. 2016).
Modelling the Contributions of Riparian Vegetation and Topography to Stream Shade Using LiDAR and Conventional Digital Elevation Data

Thy Virtual Kingdom Come: Redeeming the Realm Behind the Screen
Soft, swaddling blankets, panicked cries of hunger, fragrant smells of powders and lotions-my firstborn came home after 10 weeks in the NICU. Born only 2 lbs, 10 oz, my son was fragile and totally dependent. Fragility, however, gave way to boundless energy, intellectual capacity, exponential growth in vocabulary and understanding until one day I realized I had reached a threshold for which there would be no return. My favorite son, my only son, is now a man. There is no need to dress and bathe him.
Headwater stream temperature response to forest harvesting: Do lower flows cause greater warming?

A porcine bladder model of pre‐clinical urodynamics demonstrates increased afferent nerve activity during filling
Abstract Introduction and Objectives Urodynamics are the accepted gold standard for the evaluation of multiple forms of voiding dysfunction. However, the tests are expensive, invasive, poorly reproducible, and often prone to artifacts. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop next-generation urodynamics.

TOTAL ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC ARCH REPAIR
Although surgery is the gold standard to treat aortic arch aneurysms, previous aortic surgery and cumulative co-morbidities may portend to a prohibitive operative risk in select patients. Total endovascular aortic arch repair (TEAAR) represents a novel, less-invasive alternative for such patients, with increasing reports to its utilization within the literature. We performed a systematic review of TEAAR, with the aim to delineate early outcomes with this new evolving technology.
The New Revolution in Social Media Evangelism
How TikTok has galvanized online evangelism Social media has changed forever with the rise of TikTok, which is now officially the most opened and watched app in the social media ecosystem. It has become so successful that Meta, YouTube and Twitter have altered the way they function in order to maintain their footing … and that’s a good thing for the gospel. First, a bit of my experience as an evangelist on TikTok.

Peripheral artery embolization procedures are performed for a variety of clinical indications including stopping life-threatening bleeding, reducing blood flow to cancerous tumors, and diverting blood away from arterial aneurysms, arteriovenous fistulas, and other vascular malformations. Cybersecurity Is a Team Sport: Bolstering How U.S. Federal and State Officials Share Incident Information
Introduction To understand and respond effectively to the threats posed by malicious hackers, the U.S. government needs more data and quickly. While the situation is improving, according to Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, “[M]ost breaches are not reported to law enforcement.”1 As a result, the federal government is essentially flying blind when combating cyber threats.

Sunday Journey Series: Calvary Chapel Rome Italy
Calvary Chapel Rome is part of the global Calvary Chapel movement. It was planted by Brent and Hope Harrell. There are lots of interesting things about them, but perhaps most interesting is that they have been serving in Rome since 1999. That’s unusual because missionaries to Europe often last only one term. Europe is the kind of hard soil that Jesus spoke about in the parable of the soils. Large evangelical churches are often measured in the dozens vs hundreds here.
Sunday Journey Series: New Hope Church in Honolulu
Just before I leave Christianity Today, I wanted to wrap up my blog series called Sunday Journeys. In the series where we talk about what churches are doing and seek to learn from them. My last big trip before the shutdown was to take a group of our Wheaton College graduate students to Hawaii where we participated in a class on leadership with Wayne Cordeiro. Wayne is the pastor of New Hope Oahu, president of New Hope Christian College, and regularly partakes in leadership roles.

While I was with the SBC in Nashville recently, several people inquired about options for SBC students in the School of Mission, Ministry, and Leadership at Wheaton College where I am the Dean. As a result, we are now planning two new cohorts for SBC students. Wheaton College Wheaton College is the most well-known evangelical institution for higher education.
No Longer Evangelical
I became a Christian at the age of 20, while doing my honors work in philosophy at the University of Michigan. Up until that point, I was an atheist, being raised by atheists. My childhood home had a sign declaring, “The Moore’s, The Atheists,” and a barrel for Bible burning—seriously. That’s why when I converted to Christianity, I had nearly zero history with organized religion and was utterly unfamiliar with a great many terms and labels that came with my conversion.

In the wake of government shutdowns necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, insureds filed business-interruption and other claims with their commercial-liability insurers. As insurers denied those claims, insureds filed suit, creating a nationwide spate of cases involving business-interruption coverage. Plaintiffs in many of those cases have attempted to obtain consolidation and centralization of the cases in a multi-district litigation, or MDL.

UofM has safety plans for a tentative return to face-to-face classes this fall
After more than a year of virtual learning, the University of Memphis plans a tentative return to face-to-face classes this fall, granted that the local coronavirus data is not significantly worse than it is now. The return to pre-pandemic campus life comes at a high cost and new measures. For the past three semesters, graduating seniors were forced to celebrate their commencements virtually.

New law making it easier to own handguns could have deadly effects in Memphis
The Tennessee General Assembly has passed a law that would remove gun permit requirements for most Tennesseans — a change widely opposed by law enforcement. The legislation, which passed in the state Senate on March 18 and passed the Tennessee House of Representatives Monday night, is part of Gov. Bill Lee’s public safety agenda and, once signed, would go into effect July 1.
“Reckless, racist rip-off”: Former Vice President Al Gore joins the growing number of activists and officials in opposition to the Byhalia Pipeline
Former Vice President Al Gore joined the Memphis community’s fight against the Byhalia Pipeline – calling it a “reckless, racist rip-off” – at a rally held Sunday, March 14, at Alonzo Weaver Park in South Memphis. “When the pipeline representatives said this is the path of least resistance, that was a gaffe because [they] told the truth accidentally,” Gore said before a large crowd on Sunday afternoon. “Least resistance?
Is the vaccine bottleneck opening in Shelby County?
After a bumpy start that saw delays, expired doses and calls for an FBI investigation, the City of Memphis has taken over the vaccine administration process locally and is now allowing members of the risk-based group 1c and those who are 65 years or older to receive the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, and some are already receiving their second/final dose.
The COVID-19 Jobs Protection Act: Liability Immunity for Health Care Facilities on the Horizon in West Virginia | JD Supra
On February 19, 2021, the West Virginia Senate passed SB 277, the “COVID-19 Jobs Protection Act.” The purpose of the Act is stated to “eliminate the liability of the citizens of West Virginia and all persons including individuals, health care providers, health care facilities, institutions of higher education, businesses, manufacturers, and all persons whomsoever, and to preclude all suits and claims against any persons for loss, damages, personal injuries, or death arising from COVID-19.”...
Despite vaccination site closures, Shelby County residents report finding information about available doses through social media groups
For at least seven days over the past two weeks, the Shelby County Health Department closed COVID-19 vaccination sites and cancelled appointments due to inclement weather. Despite the cancellations, Shelby County residents without appointments reported on multiple occasions that they were able to obtain vaccines thanks to tips from social media channels like Twitter threads, Facebook and WhatsApp groups.

West Virginia Updates Nursing Home Vaccination Distribution Plan | JD Supra
As the country prepares to end the fight against COVID-19, questions regarding the distribution of vaccines have understandably been at the forefront of the minds of Long-Term Care Facilities (“LTCF”). Indeed, those questions are likely due in part to the differences between the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources’ (“DHHR”) proposed plan and the proposed plan of the United States Centers for Disease Control (“CDC”).

Joe The title track alone is worth the price of admission. This is a good example of the "sonic kitchen sink" of the old cassettes, hopping from songs to fragments of dialog to bits of recording detritus. Favorite track: Play. oh yeah Lots of gems on this one. The punky title track, "Safe, Reliable and Courteous" (just listen to that funky bass lick at 4:00), "Want From Me", "Even Me", etc. And what the hell is "Mister Christ"?

COVID and consent
Sir, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, patients undergoing invasive procedures were subject to confirming their consent through written means, a process which is considered common within surgical fields.1 The guidance issued by the FGDP on 1 June suggested a move towards provision of 'digital packs' and it seems many standard operating procedures (SOPs) being issued by practices include the provision of digital information packs with consent forms to patients.2 Patients being issued consent...
Social Justice, Critical Race Theory, Marxism, and Biblical Ethics
During the weeks following the death of George Floyd, I have been following the news with an increasing sense of sadness and concern for the problems facing the United States regarding race and racism. I’ve been unsure how to respond as I’ve scrolled through social media and watched increasingly polarized rhetoric on both sides of the political aisle—except to listen to the voices of Black friends and neighbors who are hurting and to pray for justice.
The Whispers of Revival
Video Courtesy of R. York Moore There is a new movement of God in America. It has come in whispers and rumors but now is beginning to manifest in powerful ways. I first heard the whisper in 2015, while running a nationwide anti-trafficking campaign called the Price of Life. The campaign mobilized hundreds of thousands to fight trafficking, including Fortune 100 companies, US Representatives, and several State Attorney General Offices.
