When keeping quiet is a good thing…

No, I’m not talking about keeping secrets, or about not speaking up when you see something that needs reporting. Instead, let’s explore Quiet, or silence, as a spiritual practice. Luke 5:16 tells us that Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. He regularly took time on his own in quiet places; away from people. When we talk about silence and solitude, that’s what we mean – time on your own, time in quiet before God.

Hospitality: A Practice or a Posture?

For some, hospitality is a gift. It’s where they thrive, it impacts which house they buy, or how they set out their homes. They feel most fulfilled when they have guests. For others, the weight of preparation weighs heavily on their shoulders. For myself, the temptation can be to view hospitality as something that I’m not equipped for, my small living space (and sometimes empty fridge!) doesn’t feel like an easy place to host others.
