TEXAS, USA — The two North Texas chefs nominated for the James Beard Foundation's annual chef and restaurant awards but, were not victorious at this year's ceremony. The James Beard Foundation gives out its prestigious awards annually, naming semi-finalists, nominees, and finally winners. Nine North Texas restaurants and chefs were named semi-finalists in January. In March, the nominees were announced, with just two DFW chefs making the cut.

DALLAS — About 1.6 million Texans who currently use E-cigarettes will no longer be able to use them in Dallas' public spaces. A new ordinance will take effect Dec. 11, effectively banning vaping in all locations currently prohibited for smoking, WFAA previously reported. That includes all indoor and enclosed spaces, within 15 feet of building entrances, and on park property.

Frisco couple sentenced to 40 years in $30 million fraudulent pyramid scheme, DOJ says

FRISCO, Texas — A Frisco couple who were found guilty of running a fraudulent pyramid scheme during the COVID-19 pandemic have been sentenced to 40 years in prison, federal officials said. LaShonda and Marlon Moore were found guilty in January 2026 of conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering charges, according to a press release from the United States Department of Justice.
