Billings, Mont. — Billings Public Schools students have a new chance to learn tribal languages and cultures in classes offered to middle and high school students. The classes are part of the Indigenous Pathways program at the Billings Multilingual Academy. For some students, the classes open a door they did not expect. Junior Spoons Parrish says learning his tribe’s language also gives him a stronger sense of community and a way to help protect culture for the future.

Billings, Mont. — Burn the Point returned to Billings for Labor Day weekend, bringing together more than 300 classic cars and hot rods while raising money for Montana families facing crisis. For 22 years, the event has been a Labor Day weekend tradition in the Magic City. This year, cars lined up at Henry’s Garage with a mix of horsepower, history and personal stories. Dru Brown with Big Sky Speedway said his team joined the show to be part of the community event and promote its race cars.

Stillwater County — Ty Allen Turney pleaded guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide and two counts of attempted homicide in Stillwater County District Court on Thursday afternoon. The plea change meant there would be no trial. Two people who survived the shooting were also in the courtroom. Greg Dawson lost his wife and daughter in the shooting and was also hit by gunfire. He is now in a wheelchair and said he came to court to see the case move forward. “I was here to see justice get done today.
