Angela Carter, the financial director for Legislative Services, returned to the witness stand after continuing testimony from Wednesday. She described correspondence involving a state contract that prosecutors said Ellsworth illegally awarded to a longtime associate. A key part of her testimony centered on how the paperwork reached her.
Department of Justice awards $150K to child abuse centers in Montana Original
MISSOULA — Four Children's Advocacy Centers in Montana are receiving nearly $150,000 in grant funds to support child survivors of crime and abuse, money that will go toward technology upgrades, facility improvements and professional training. According to Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen in a press release, the grant money came from a Johnson & Johnson settlement over allegations the company made, marketed and knowingly sold baby powder tainted with carcinogenic asbestos.

FORT PECK, Mont, State — Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement are asking for the public’s help in the search for a man wanted by the U.S. Marshal Office. Channing Eder did not return to jail following a release from federal custody on May 22, 2026 but had returned to the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement said in a release. Investigators said Eder was first indicted in U.S. District Court on federal charges tied to incidents on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

MISSOULA, MT — Chuck Bartlebaugh says some grizzly bear populations have recovered enough that hunting or relocation could be considered as the federal government looks at changing how it manages grizzlies. Bartlebaugh has spent almost 50 years photographing bears and teaching people about them. He says he hopes local groups all have a voice in whatever happens next.
