Rescue crews responded at Lone Peak after a man fell from the North Summit Snowfield and another person was found nearby. Gallatin County government reported on its Facebook page that the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Gallatin County Search and Rescue and a helicopter responded to the incident. Rescuers pulled out the man who fell. The helicopter crew also found another person nearby before both were taken to Bozeman Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Bozeman, Montana — Montana State's football team opened its 2026 home schedule with the annual Gold Rush game – the first-time the Bobcats were back in front of their home fans since winning the National Championship last fall. GREAT FALLS, Mont. - A couple seasonal favorites in Great Falls are set to wind down, marking the start of fall this September. Ryan Island is scheduled to close for the season after Labor Day. The island is reached by a short suspension bridge and will offer a close-up view of the Great Falls. The island offers visitors historical information about the Corps of Discovery and the history of hydroelectric power.

The summit was held at Flathead Valley Community College, but organizers and speakers made clear the issue reached highways, small towns and cities across Montana.

Missouri River Bar and Grill in Cascade has confirmed that the historic building is a complete loss after an early morning fire on September 4. Every employee made it safely out of the building but two are currently being held overnight for observation following treatment for smoke inhalation. A dark-haired schnauzer remains missing after the fire. At the moment, there has been no word on what the future of the business will be.

After several close bear encounters this week in the Treasure State...FWP says this is the time of year when people need to be ready. Montana — Recent bear encounters near Manhattan and on a busy trail in Glacier National Park pushed Fish, Wildlife and Parks to remind people to stay ready this time of year. FWP reported that bears were staying active longer during the day as they worked to gain weight before hibernation.

Bozeman, Mont. — A legal battle over President Trump’s mail-in ballot restrictions could affect how many Montana voters take part in elections ahead of ballots going out October 9th for the midterm elections. Trump asked the Supreme Court to reject an order from a federal judge that would have blocked his administration from imposing limits on mail-in ballots. The restrictions come from an executive order he signed in March.

MEAGHER COUNTY, Mont. — Leaders with the Grassy Mountain Fire District said a new station could sharply reduce how long it takes crews to reach emergencies in the Grassy Mountain subdivision on the edge of Meagher County. Right now, the closest agency took about 30 to 45 minutes to respond if a fire broke out there. District leaders said they want to cut that time in half by building a station.
