Prevalence of Malocclusions among Schoolchildren from Southwestern Romania

1. Introduction Malocclusions represent imbalances that appear in the formation and growth processes of the stomatognathic system [1]. Malocclusions affect the functions of the dentomaxillary apparatus (respiratory function, mastication, deglutition, phonation, and physiognomy), the patient’s psycho-social integration, and, implicitly, the quality of his life [2,3,4]. Thus, understanding malocclusion from the patient’s perspective is crucial in orthodontic treatment planning.
