Assessment of neuropathy subtypes in type 1 diabetes

Discussion In this study, the degree of nerve fiber damage was examined in participants with T1DM, both with and without DPN, and with and without pain. The results revealed that MFN is the most prevalent subtype in T1DM-associated DPN. The results also showed that with an increasing number of tests, the prevalence shifts from MFN to either DPN with a more prevalent SFN or LFN subtype.
