I decided to feature the western rat snake this week as there have been many posts to social media recently with residents seeking identification of the species. Condition improves for cyclist hit by car

The condition of an Ada man who was critical after being hit by a car Wednesday evening improved by Friday. Rain, high winds cause trouble in county; couple rescued from floodwater

While flooding in the southern portion of the county Tuesday may have caused the most headaches, portions of Pontotoc County didn't escape the derecho that moved through the state early Monday morning.
