I am a spirits and culture writer based in the New York metro area. After years of writing about entertainment for BET, Billboard, Essence, MTV and more, I decided to turn my focus to spirits, cocktails and the hospitality industry — as an homage to his late father, a bartender.

Since then, I’ve written for Food Network, Foodbeast, Thirsty, The Alcohol Professor and The Whiskey Lifestyle, among others.

Orphan Barrel releases Night Sage, a 25-Year-Old Blended Canadian Whisky, as the 25th release in its Collection. The second Blended Canadian Whisky in the Orphan Barrel Collection, Night Sage features liquid that was distilled in Ontario and Manitoba. The whisky was matured in two different barrel types – first-dump oak barrels, used only once prior, and multi-use barrels, both of which previously held other Canadian whisky.

Cedar Ridge Drops Almost Decade Old Rye

Cedar Ridge Distillery has released Nine and Three Quarters Rye, its oldest whiskey to date. The limited edition expression utilizes the distillery’s high malted rye mash bill (85% rye, 12% corn, and 3% malted barley). The 115 proof rye was aged in new American Oak Char 3 barrels. All of the barrels used feature a blend of barrels aged at least nine years, with the majority reaching nine years and nine months (hence the name), with one even reaching ten years old.
