Indianapolis breaks temperature record for second day in a row
For the second day in a row, Indianapolis has broken its high temperature record. At 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2026, the National Weather Service measured a temperature of 88 degrees, breaking the date's 86-degree record set in 1975. The agency measured an 87-degree temperature on Oct. 12, breaking another 86-degree record set in 1879. But a cold front will soon come through, according to NWS meteorologist Alexander McGinnis. "It will be quite a boundary," McGinnis said.
What to know about Indiana judges up for retention vote on your ballot
In Marion County, voters don't elect judges, but they do decide whether they get to keep their jobs. The process, known as "judicial retention," is the reason for that long list of questions tacked on to the end of voters' ballots each November. If the candidates' names don't sound particularly familiar, that's because judges running for retention are barred by the Indiana Code of Judicial Conduct from campaigning or raising money unless there is "active opposition" to their candidacy.

Kristin Bixler was found dead behind her Zionsville home on April 8, 2024, after a concerned family member called police for a welfare check. Graham Bixler wasn't home.

The conspirators are accused of using the street clothes worn by defendants in court as a vessel for Suboxone strips. "I've been a prosecutor for 20 years," Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said.

Her son was killed in 2006. The man arrested will soon appear in court
Even all these years later, the memory of that day in the portrait studio can make Christina Smith laugh. The photo that now sits on a shelf dedicated to her son, Blake Dickus, looks innocent enough: an elementary schooler sits posed on his mother's lap, his smile enormous and kinetic. Blake's grin was so wide because he was laughing uncontrollably after a bout of flatulence during the photo session, Smith explained on Oct. 5, chuckling as she dabbed tears from her cheeks.
