Three luxury resorts in Anguilla have been named in Condé Nast Traveller’s inaugural Triple Crown list which recognises the world’s leading properties. Cap Juluca, A Belmond Hotel, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla, and Malliouhana are among the first in the Caribbean and Mexico region to be included. The list, published on 2 June, brings together hotels that have achieved the travel magazine’s three accolades over nearly four decades – the Hot List, Gold List and Readers’ Choice Awards.

Anguilla Aquastars claim impressive medal haul at St Maarten sprint meet

The Anguilla Aquastars delivered an impressive performance at Coach Franky’s Sprint Invitational in St Maarten, claiming 11 gold and two silver medals. All of the squad’s nine competing swimmers recorded at least one personal best with some setting new marks in all of their events during the competition on 14 June. Anguilla Aquastars coach Breanna Webster told Anguilla Focus that she was incredibly proud of the swimmers’ performance and their impressive collection of medals.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I was a junior reporter at a weekly newspaper in Manchester, UK. After two years I rose to senior reporter thanks to a very supportive team.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means accurately presenting the facts of a story with impartiality, retaining a sense of humanity and being accountable.

Why did you become a journalist?

To make sure the voices of those who are fighting against social injustice are heard, and to keep the public educated and informed.
