Brown has been a journalist since 1984 working as a sports reporter with The Wisconsin State Journal, The Kansas City Star & Times, The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, The Michigan Chronicle as sports editor, and The Detroit News as a news and sports copy editor, sports reporter, and boxing columnist.
Brown left The Detroit News strike for advertising and produced national campaigns for Fortune 500 companies with GlobalHue.
Brown produced TV, radio, print, PR, events, and first web content for clients including Advance Auto Parts, Alltel, American Cancer Society, Ameritech, Bank of America, Best Buy, Budweiser, Carson Beauty Products, The Chrysler Group, The CIAA Basketball Tournament, Corona, Domino’s Pizza, General Mills, Honda, Kmart, Michigan Lottery, Miller Brewing, McDonald’s, MillerCoors, Navy, Rieter Automotive, the University of Michigan Aphasia Program, Mindworks Learning Center, the Oakland Community College Combined Regional Emergency Services Training Program, Verizon Wireless, and Western Union.

Brown founded The Marketing Square in 2010 in Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, and California.
