INTRODUCTION Landfill leachate is a complex effluent produced during the degradation of organic and inorganic materials in landfills, containing significant levels of nitrogen compounds that pose environmental and public health risks. Key studies (Brennan et al., 2017; Kjeldsen et al., 2002; Miao et al., 2019; Tian et al., 2013) highlight the sources, fate, and management of nitrogen in landfill leachate.
