One of the pivotal sets of data in understanding Earth’s climate have been the EPICA ice cores from Antarctica, pieces of ice which house bits of Earth’s atmosphere frozen in time for up to 800,000 years. Now, researchers are embarking on a journey to unearth a new set of ice cores as part of the Beyond EPICA-Oldest Ice campaign.

Up north on Mars’s surface lies a region called Arabia Terra, an area with many craters and heavy erosion approximately the same size as Europe. The topography of Arabia Terra presents a unique history of the Martian landscape through its layers of different rocks and sediment. Scientists speculate that these rock formations provide a record of Mars’s surface environments dating back 4,100 to 3,700 million years ago.

Scientists discovered an exoplanet that has some wild characteristics. This exoplanet, called GJ 367b, was identified by researchers using data collected by TESS, the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite from NASA. The findings have been reported in Science. This small planet is about 72 percent of Earth's radius and denser than Earth. The researchers have suggested that unlike Earth, which has an iron core and rocky mantle, this planet is probably made entirely of iron. It's also incredibly hot.
