Quincy, Ill. (KHQA) â The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, may be visible across the Tri-States late tonight, May 10th, and again Saturday night, May 11th. Our sun has cycled to an active period of sunspots which occurs every 12 years. During maximum activity of sunspots, the sun will burp or rather emit material from the surface known as Coronal Mass Ejections. There have been four of these this week. Our âKâ index forecast according to NOAA is at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
