By RICHIE HALL sports@readthereporter.com As many of you are already aware, this is my last week as sports editor of the Hamilton County Reporter. My last official day is today, July 24. It’s been an honor to serve the people of Hamilton County for 19 years, including the 13 years I have spent here at The Reporter, which was started back in September 2013 by Don and Jeff Jellison.

The REPORTER Westfield’s Hudson Kutchma and Guerin Catholic’s Eli Wessel were usually pitted against each other on the golf course during their high school years. But on Wednesday, the duo did something remarkable. The recent graduates of their respective schools were among the 14 players vying for the final two spots in the match play portion of the U.S. Junior Amateur at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. A playoff was needed to determine those final two positions.

The REPORTER The Indiana Swimming Age Group Long Course championship meet begins today at the Carmel High School Aquatic Center. Today’s action begins at 4 p.m. with events for the 11-12 and 13-14 age groups. From Friday through Sunday, morning sessions start at 8 a.m. with the evening sessions beginning at 5 p.m. All 10 & under events take place Saturday and Sunday, starting at 2 p.m. Admission prices are $40 for an all-session pass, $15 for an all-day pass and $12 for a single-session pass.
