Power pole fire cause lights out in downtown Wenatchee

Heavy rain over several hours Wednesday morning damaged power poles, causing fires due to extra moisture on the poles, according to Rachel Hansen with Chelan County PUD. The electric pole fires knocked out power to more than 400 customers in the downtown Wenatchee area in the afternoon, around rush hour — a traffic nightmare for some drivers trying to navigate with traffic lights out. Some power was restored within hours, and the final customers saw their lights come back on Thursday morning.
