BOSSIER CITY, La. - It was just over a week ago that B-2 bomber pilots flew from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to bomb targets in Iran. It brings to mind similar historic flights that have originated from Barksdale Air Force Base. If you have a heart and a brain, and live in the USA, that heart should have been full this past week. The best and the brightest in the U.S. Air Force took off just before sunrise to make history. As I watched, I was reminded of another early morning take-off.

SHREVEPORT, La. — Long before Miss Rachel, Barney, or even Sesame Street, KTBS brought the magic of children’s programming to local viewers with a show called Romper Room. Airing in the late 1950s and ’60s, the live broadcast helped shape childhood memories across the ArkLaTex. As part of KTBS’s 70th anniversary celebration, veteran reporter Rick Rowe took viewers on a nostalgic journey through the station’s early years, starting with a beloved local version of Romper Room hosted by Miss Barbara.
