Quilting Your Shirts to Live Vol. 1
Well hello there, all you young whippersnappers! Don’t worry, I don’t bite! Can’t anyway. Haven’t popped the dentures in yet. *shhhtuuck* Much better now! My name’s Faith Wurning. You’ve caught me in the middle of quite a vast undertaking. See, my drug-addled grandson loves this awfully loud music called “heavy metal.” I find most of it just so terrible. The names alone are putrid and oftentimes misleading. Last year, he told me he was going to see Gutalax. I said to him, Well, that’s nothing special.
26 for ’26: The Transcending Obscurity 2026 Label Sampler Platter
Find your rainbow. Here are 26 words on 26 songs from the 2026 Transcending Obscurity sampler. Buy it so cats and dogs can receive care they need and deserve. Endspace – “Sixth Transmission” For a song that starts interdimensionally, it certainly ends apace. Kunal said things were going to be weird on this year’s sampler, and he ain’t wrong! Veilburner – “Vitriolic Hiss” Veilburner operates unrestrainedly. Everything song concludes, but it’s never foregone.
This Toilet Tuesday (12/9/25)
O Canorous Can, O Thirsty Thunderbox, Thy rim grows frigid as Dante’s Ninth Circle. This week, we’ve got stinky sussurations, dead heads, and antidepressant DSBM. The pickings are slim, my Dumplings, but I have the buttmost faith you’ll find something below that tickles your tailfeathers.
Review: Between the Buried and Me – The Blue Nowhere
Half a billion years ago, the Cambrian seas erupted with forms the world had never seen. Trilobites with crystal eyes, predators with clawed mouths, armored worms bristling with spines—a sudden, unexplainable proliferation of life. Chaotic, excessive, and dazzlingly alive. Listening to The Blue Nowhere, it feels like Between the Buried and Me have staged their own Cambrian explosion: a bloom of impossible musical organisms, each song a creature that shouldn’t exist, but does.
Eco-Friendly Parenting: Sustainable Choices for Your Baby’s First Year
Welcoming a baby into your life is a transformative experience. As a first-time parent, you will likely be excited about buying everything your baby needs without giving it much thought. For instance, you may shop for single-use nappies, plastic toys, bags, or bottles, which you cannot recycle and thus contribute to environmental waste. But now, with the creation of a new life, it is time to embrace an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle that will create a healthy future for the next generation.
Fortress Festival 2025 Preview: Five bands to check out
Black metal goes to the Scarborough Fair (sort of) For about three years, Fortress Festival has been one of the most exciting festivals here in the UK. Held in Scarborough where its venue is near to the seaside beach, Fortress brings into the UK a lot of international black metal bands that are more on the niche side (and the odd death metal band like Mortiferum last year).
I’m a gravely silly person. It is Friday. The semester is nearly complete. In a month I will be in Boston. Here are some albums that I listen to because I’m awesome. You can be awesome, too. Boldy James & V Don – Alphabet Highway RRC Music | April 4, 2025 The second of three albums released already in the Year of Our Lord 2025, Alphabet Highway sees Detroit’s Boldy James team up with Harlem’s V Don to produce the most Griselda-adjacent album of Boldy’s career.
Toilet Radio 552 - Plastic Surgery Disasters
This week on Toilet Radio: Perry Farrell is BACK! In plastic form! Yngwie Malmsteen is ready to sell you a bunch of gummy multivitamins to help you shred real good and fast. Meanwhile, Matt Heafy is ready to sell you a bag of cough drops to help you do some yells. Some small town Australian mayor took a photo with Ronnie Radke and now it’s THE WHOLE WORLD vs Ronnie Radke yet again. In hardcore news: Zulu and Gel are just… a huge goddamn mess, man.
Video Premiere: Electrocutioner - Asleep At The Wheel
Where did you learn to fly? Wake up! It’s a new year and a new you! Well…one of those things is true. You’re still the same old metal thrashing maniac. There’s no changing you. Eat, sleep, work, mosh, repeat. You still toss on your battle vest one arm at a time. No need to comb your hair when you can toss on your old, greasy Suicidal Tendencies snapback. And when someone tells you not to stage dive, you’re not going to listen, are you?
Exclusive Video Premiere: Thunderkok’s “Parental Erection” (NSFW)
“We’re gonna be talking about THE PENIS!” – Coach Buzzcut, Beavis and Butthead Writer’s Note: This article contains NSFW language and content. If you get yelled at for reading this while at work, that’s on you. The penis has always been an integral part of the metal ethos. No matter how much black metal dorks posture as gay-bashing “hessians,” metal was built upon the foundation of cock. If singer-songwriter records come from the heart, heavy metal albums come from the urethra.
SBDC109 (6R35) Date Change at 5-6 AM
Recently, the date on my Seiko SBDC109 Capt Williard started changing between 5 and 6 AM. Previously, it changed at midnight. Any clue what happened or how to correct it?
Premiere: Cutterred Flesh - “Human Protein Concentrate”
It’s delicious AND nutritious! The disappearances of the myriad ancestor species to homo sapiens is one of those great mysteries to which we will likely never know the answer. For example, what happened to homo erectus? Were they driven to extinction by other early humans, or did they simply fade away over the course of small changes and adaptations over thousands of years? The current consensus seems to be that climate shifts were a major factor in their disappearance.
Yung Lean Continues His Streak Of Odd Collaborations On "SPIRIT OF THUNDER"
Yung Lean has never really been your typical rapper. The Swedish-born talent likes to mix elements of all sorts of genres together to create something truly unique. Of course, he is known best for his cloud rap roots. But, do not disqualify what he can do outside of that lane. He is someone who deserves all the respect for being a pioneer and a game changer. Today, Yung Lean is back to serve up a new single called "SPIRIT OF THUNDER." It does not just have him on it though.
Logic, Conway The Machine, And RiFF RAFF Deliver A Strong First Outing Together On "Intergalactic Icons"
Three of the most prolific rappers in the game have just come together for their first-ever collaboration. That is right, Logic, Conway the Machine, and RiFF RAFF have just combined their talents for a single. It might be hard to believe, but this is indeed a real thing. Let us break down how these three did together. Honestly, this is a very solid effort all around. While Logic and Conway make sense, RiFF could have stuck out like a sore thumb on this cut.
Review: Fawn Limbs & Nadja – Vestigial Spectra
Two polar opposites combine into a whole that’s uniquely different from the sum of its parts. Astronomy is a weird science. You can’t really perform experiments in astronomy, at least not on the scale of planets or star systems or galaxies. When researchers were trying to verify if gravitational waves exist, they couldn’t just create two massive objects and let them merge, they had scan the entire sky for decades before finding two black holes about to combine in the wild.
This Toilet Tuesday (10/17/23)
O great ceramic seat below, thou who hungers for plungers, assuage our sins that we might proceed without blockage. This week we’ve got by-the-(spell)book blackthrash, apologetic DSBM, and songs from a sunken sacrum. Dive deep, for hidden treasures surely await the intrepid.
Premiere: S.C.R.A.M. - Never Could Live Like That
Wham, bam, thank you, S.C.R.A.M. In the 80’s and 90’s, we were promised a futuristic world full of flying cars, cyborgs, and neo-noir. Everything is grim, but there’s also neon. Lots and lots of neon. If you take a look around, the future still looks and sounds a lot like the recent past. No robo-butlers. No meals in pill form. No c-beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
Toilet Radio 456 - Gaggin’ for a Shaggin’
This week on Toilet Radio: We’re digging through 30+ year old UK metal magazines to read the classifieds. Lonely metalheads searching for love, musicians, and fan club bargains. In our quest for the classifieds we also encounter: DANZIG RACE WARS CONTROVERSIES, Pete Steele cutting himself on stage, Fenriz being a real fuckin’ weirdo, White Zombie getting cast as a doom band, Jon Schaffer describing the process of an eagle crying, and Abbath going fishing.
This Toilet Tuesday (9/26/23)
Today, we prostrate ourselves before thy polished plumbing, for thy gifts are many. This week we’ve got enflutened prog death, boner pill thrash, and a e s t h e t i c slam. The bowl is deep, so don your benthic best—and be careful not to get the bends (or the squealies) on your swim back to the surface.
Toilet Radio 454 - The Second-to-Last Refuge of a Scoundrel
This week on Toilet Radio: We hear from one of Our Guys for the first time in a very long while – Tommy Vext is trying to make amends with all the people he’s wronged! That’ll probably work. He’s also making a pivot into the second to last refuge of a scoundrel: COUNTRY MUSIC. / We found a new guy who sucks, please welcome John Widowmaker, who is white. /Watch out, age of consent laws! Chris “Fronz” Fronzak announced he’s running for president as a Libertarian.
Track Premiere: Orphalis - The Wolves Draw Near
With every breath drawn, colors fade. Today in the Bowl we’re thrilled to bring you an exclusive track premiere from Orphalis‘ upcoming As the Ashes Settle, the band’s fourth LP and first with Toilet friends Transcending Obscurity. “The Wolves Draw Near,” the fifth single to be released from As the Ashes Settle, showcases the band’s undeniable range. Straight up brutal death metal a la Aborted? Sure thing. Scale-climbing technicality that’ll have Psycroptic nerds sweating? Grab a towel.

Bump’n’Grind - Washed Up Exploding Embryo
Roping in the stragglers. In terms of release date, some of these could have been included in the last installment, but my negligence shall be made up for. In terms of sound, some of these fought to not be featured here at all, but their resistance shall prove futile. Smallpox Aroma | Festering Embryos of Logical Corruption | March 31 Without seeing the cover art or the song titles, you’d never suspect that Smallpox Aroma are all about morbid medical matters.
Flush it Friday: Accursed Sidewalk Thrifting
Have you ever found an item on the sidewalk, destined for a landfill, and taken it into your home, regardless of feeling an abject darkness emanating from within? From a truly hexed cotton owl I salvaged from a deceased hoarder’s shed, to a tapestry that summons egregious nightmares, I’m no stranger to cursed curios.
Extended Pleasure: Hardcore 4 Hardcore Edition
Rival Mob references. No comic books. This will sound condescending, but it is sincere: I will always, always, find it endearing when straight edge hardcore bands write songs that are not about anything other than being straight edge. What other subgenre has such a singular focus? Such a dogged determination to attack one concept over and over? It’s about being edge. It’s about why I am. It’s about why you aren’t. It’s about why you not being is a big fuckin’ problem.
Riff Raff Podcast [EP.65] Our BETTER Top Songs of 2022

Riff Raff Podcast [EP.64] Crimes Against Wildlife
The gravity blast was a mistake – Hans The crass conservationists assemble again, just in time to watch the planet get cremated. We have two special guests this time to help Hans and Eenzy crank up the heat: Carlos from Salvadoran crust-grinders Conflicto and TovH’s own Snooty Mcwords from eco-slammers Extinction.
Riff Raff Podcast [EP.63] Lurrikal Geniouses
Which TovH podcast is actually cool enough to discuss the brutal, intricate depths of metal lyrics? Rhetorical question The erudite edgelords emerge once again! In honor of Halloween we’re talking about a topic that should make your skin crawl: metal lyrics. They range from low-effort filler (“Hello me, meet the real me!”) to high-minded lameness (“I AM THE TABLE”) to gory descriptions graphic enough to cause you some Crepitating Bowel Erosion.
Riff Raff Podcast [EP.62] Riff Raff’s Half-Assed Summer
Your two Solstice Songbirds return for an episode they hatecast at record speed. Also we play some releases we liked so far this year WOOOORMRRRRROT Some podcasts put in a ton of effort into every episode, you know? They keep lists of what to discuss on their show and talk about it beforehand, like a bunch of nerds. And then there’s the other toilet metal podcasts. The renegades.
REVIEW: Non Serviam - We Are Nothing But Your Krill
Non Serviam are back with more glitchy avant-garde black metal to shove into your ears, including a song featuring members of Agoraphobic Nosebleed. If you liked Le Coeur Bat and the recent side project Biollante, then you’ll dig this one too. We Are Nothing But Your Krill is a lot heavier than Le Coeur Bat, and feels a little more focused. The title track serves as a short intro to the ripping single “O My Whale,” featuring a lot of glitchy electronics and vomit-y vocals.
Riff Raff Podcast: [EP.61] The Truth is We Out Here
The audacious audionauts abscond with Spooky to broadcast the TRUTH that they DON’T WANT YOU TO SEE 🛸🛸🛸 This is a communique from Radio Free Toilet, livestreaming the REAL NEWS the government doesn’t want you to know from our secret bunker. Are you ready to have a steaming pile of truth dropped right on your chest? Are you ready to have your mind blown more than an episode of Ancient Aliens filmed at Roswell scored by Blood Incantation? Cause there’s some REAL SHIT going on out...
Toilet Radio 333 - Jakob’s Wife (Feat. VHS)
The October Spooktacular continues! This week we’re joined by Mike Hochins of Canadian death metal horror punks, VHS. We’re sitting down to talk 2021 Shudder release Jakob’s Wife, which is in some ways the How Stella Got Her Groove Back of vampire flicks.

Journey, Def Leppard coming to Amalie Arena in Tampa
Your radio is going on tour. At least, it'll feel that way when Journey and Def Leppard, two of the most-played, most popular classic rock groups of all time, team up for a summer co-headlining trek featuring an absolute cavalcade of hits: Don't Stop Believin', Pour Some Sugar On Me, Faithfully, Photograph, Who's Cryin' Now, Rock of Ages, Wheel in the Sky, Armageddon It and so, so many more. The best part: It's coming to Tampa's Amalie Arena.
Gary Allan replaces DNCE as Florida Strawberry Festival’s opening night headliner
Got a concert crisis on your hands? Call Gary Allan. A couple of years ago, the country singer was a last-minute replacement for Kenny Rogers at Busch Gardens' Food and Wine Festival. Now he's doing the same favor for the Florida Strawberry Festival. Not long after the Joe Jonas dance-pop band DNCE dropped out of their opening-night headlining slot at 7:30 p.m. March 1, the Strawberry Fest has booked Allan (Nothing On But the Radio, Man to Man) to fill in.
Kid Rock to perform during NHL All-Star Game in Tampa
The NHL has announced its first in-game performer for this month's NHL All-Star Game in Tampa, and it's a guy whose heart bleeds Red Wings red: Kid Rock. The Detroit rocker will perform during the second and third periods of the game on Jan. 28 at Amalie Arena. Part of the performance will be televised on NBC. Kid Rock joins Fitz and the Tantrums and Flo Rida as All-Star Weekend performers in Tampa. Fitz and the Tantrums will headline a free concert in Curtis Hixon park on Friday, Jan.
Dave Matthews Band coming to the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa
Just like that, the Dave Matthews Band is returning to Tampa, and all is right with the world. After a rare year off from touring, Dave and company are gearing up to get back on their regular summer road schedule, including a late-July stop at Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. The group will perform there on July 25. While the band has played the venue almost every year since the shed opened, this year's show comes with a twist: A new album.
R.I.P. to the Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan, a voice that roared from the ’90s to now
Dolores O'Riordan had one of those voices. It was a lilt with a vicious edge, a warble with a snarl – it was a switch, and when it flicked, the room lit from faint emerald mist to the bloodiest of reds and right back. There is no replicating a voice like O'Riordan's, which made her band the Cranberries one of the most popular alt-rock acts of the '90s.
Top things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Jan. 15-21
Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Celebrations happen all around Tampa Bay today, including the MLK Dream Big Parade in downtown St. Petersburg. It includes 110 units and bands, including Florida A&M and Tuskegee universities, and ends with a Family Fun Day in Tropicana Field’s parking lot. Free. mlkdreambig.com. A taste of the Chitlin’ Circuit returns to Tampa
Autographed in marker on six blue planks of wood nailed against the stage’s back wall, surrounding the title of the venue painted in red, are the names of those who have played at The Blue Note since it re-opened in October. And on adjoining walls hang each musician or band’s handwritten set lists. "This is my way of adding to the building’s heritage," said Blue Note owner Stephen Prevatt. "Just doing my part." That plot of land at 1510 N Nebraska Ave. has quite the ancestry.
FUEL: The Riff Raff Weight Gain Diet
Rapper Riff Raff is on tour—and is set on fueling his body the right way. After a series of dietary mishaps on his road to getting buff, Riff Raff decides it's time to make a change. He adds a serious workout regimen to his tour schedule and is focused on gainin' weight and feelin' great in hopes of becoming 240 pounds of pure muscle.
grinding my ax about civics, national reputation, morality, conscience and not paying attention to getting a candidate elected or another defeated - by Dingbats, Riff Raff and No-Accounts - Newsvine
To no one's surprise, the response tends to be essentially "ho hum" and "yea so?" Yet we bloggers really are among the most civically active members of society and I wonder how it is that we got so sophisticatedly wise about political campaign strategy and remain so inept, ignorant and apathetic about genuine civic responsibility? There are duties required by that responsibility when things go wrong or when some among us seriously harm the rest of the world in our name.
