Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week Showcases Local Talent
For the first time, Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week shows were separated into different nights based on clothing style to provide a more cohesive feel to the week as a whole. Rapha, an activewear company, sent models down the runway on bikes and roller skates Thursday night at Record in Bentonville. Activewear being shown on the NWAFW runway was a first for the event, said Rachel Fox, the head of marketing for NWAFW.
Students Struggling with Learning Disabilities Get Assistance from CEA
Transitioning from high school to college is an enormous undertaking for many 18-year-olds, but making the jump while also battling a learning disability made it almost impossible for freshman McKenzie White. When White, who is majoring in kinesiology, was in third grade, her elementary school tried to hold her back a grade for comparatively low scores in reading, but her mom requested that the school administrators test her for dyslexia, White said.
“Big Brother” To Have Open Casting Calls At JBGB
An open casting call for CBS’s “Big Brother” will be in Fayetteville from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. March 16 at JJ's Beer Garden & Brewing Co., according to Big Brother Casting. “Big Brother” is a reality show that follows a group of people living together in a house with dozens of cameras and microphones recording everything they do, according to CBS. Each week the participants vote someone out of the house. The final houseguest will receive the grand prize of $500,000.

There has been a lot of negative attention surrounding the 2019 Oscars host situation, but the stars’ stunning looks on the red carpet offered a reprieve from the debacle. It was a toss-up between Gemma Chan in Valentino and Constance Wu in custom Atelier Versace for the winner of who I thought was the best dressed. Chan, star of “Crazy Rich Asians,” wore a high-neck, ruffled fuschia gown that complemented her wispy updo. Her co-star, Wu, looked elegant in an off-the-shoulder, mustard-yellow dress.
UA Museum Sponsors Monthly Speaker Series, Draws Students In With Snakes
It isn’t a normal Wednesday in the Union food court when students walk past a table covered with taxidermied and jarred snakes, but for the curators of the UA Museum it’s nothing out of the ordinary. As part of the UA Museum’s monthly speaker series, “Museum in the Union” is a casual, come-and-go event that takes place right in front of the Union Food Court. This month’s theme is snakes, with curators presenting a myriad of species from Arkansas and the surrounding states.
