Chemoresistance of TP53 mutant acute myeloid leukemia requires the mevalonate byproduct, geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate, for induction of an adaptive stress response | Leukemia
Abstract Acute myeloid leukemia with mutations in TP53 (TP53mut AML) is fatal with a median survival of 6 months. RNA sequencing on purified AML patient samples showed that TP53mut AML had higher expression of mevalonate pathway genes.

Targeting eIF4F translation initiation complex with SBI-756 sensitises B lymphoma cells to venetoclax
Abstract Background The BCL2 inhibitor venetoclax has shown efficacy in several hematologic malignancies, with the greatest response rates in indolent blood cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. There is a lower response rate to venetoclax monotherapy in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Methods We tested inhibitors of cap-dependent mRNA translation for the ability to sensitise DLBCL and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) cells to apoptosis by venetoclax.
When Fasting Gets Tough, the Tough Immune Cells Get Going-or Die
Cycles of fasting reduce autoimmunity and activate lymphocyte-dependent killing of cancer cells, but the mechanisms remain poorly understood. Three studies in this issue of Cell begin to reveal the drastic and complex effects of fasting and severe calorie restriction on the levels and localization of different immune cells and the mechanisms responsible for them.
Development of the First Model of Radical Prostatectomy in the Mouse: A Feasibility Study
Several preclinical murine models of prostate cancer (PCa) are currently used to investigate PCa diagnosis and treatment [1][1]. However, no model replicates the setting of radical prostatectomy (RP) in PCa. Thus, we aimed to develop a preclinical model of RP to fill this void and offer new scenarios for research. We used wild-type (WT) mice as a model of healthy prostate and transgenic adenocarcinoma mouse prostate (TRAMP) mice as a model of autochthonous prostate tumor.
